Author Roy Kākulu Alameida was born in Kamananui and raised in Mokulē‘ia, O‘ahu. A graduate of Kamehameha Schools, he earned a master’s degree in Hawaiian history from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Alameida later served as a Hawaiian Resource Specialist at Kamehameha Schools.
